What is a school safety liaison?
The School safety Liaison’s primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of students and staff. He/She is present throughout the building during the school day and provides a sense of security for students in part by establishing positive relationships. Remaining present by walking the halls and greeting students as they arrive each day play a pivotal role in contributing to their success and well-being.
Background information about Mr. Curtis:
- Attended Morgan State University as a communications major, 1983 to1986.
- Worked as a Fairfax County Police Officer from 1988 to 2021.
- Spent the last 14 years of my career as a patrol sergeant. During my career I received a lot of training to include conflict resolution and de-escalation.
- I have handled every call imaginable, so there isn’t too much that will shock me.
- Started working as a School Safety Liaison for Bel Air Middle School in 2022
