Maryland Immunization Requirements

Maryland immunization requirements will impact your student in the school year 2025-2026.

All students entering 7th grade must have had one Tdap vaccination and one Meningococcal vaccination.

You should work with your child’s doctor to get his/her immunization record documenting these vaccines or receive the required vaccinations if needed. Please email, fax, or mail a copy of your child's updated immunization record documenting the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines.

According to Maryland School Immunization Regulations (COMAR 10.06.04), to be allowed in school, students must be immunized according to the Maryland Recommended Childhood Immunization Schedule. A child has up to 20 days from the start of school to show proof of vaccinations. Your child may not be allowed in school without these vaccinations.

HCPS Portable Communication Device Policy

In March 2024, the HCPS Board of Education voted the Portable Communication Device as policy. Each school level has some differences based on the maturity and need of the students it serves. At the middle school level, students may possess cell phones, but it must be deactivated and placed in their locker during the regular school day. Other devices, like Smartwatches, can be worn, but communication access must be disabled. Below is a one pager explaining the options for middle and high school students. You may click on the picture below to be directed to the Board Policy.

Student Drop Off and Pick Up Information

Students may enter BAMS starting at 7:45 a.m. Buses will begin unloading from the circle in front of the school at that time. If you wish to drop your child off, you may do so between 7:45 and 8:00 a.m. from either the upper parking lot by the tennis courts or the lower parking lot closest to Homestead/Wakefield.

Cars cannot enter the bus loop until all buses have arrived and unloaded.

At the end of the school day, buses will begin pulling out at approximately 2:55 p.m. Once the buses pull out, cars will be able to pull down into the bus loop for parent pickup.

If your child won’t be able to arrive in homeroom by 8:05 a.m., please have them stop by the main office to sign in. Signing in will prevent them from being marked absent.

Learn with Me

Harford County Public Schools is excited to announce Learn with Me opportunities this school year. Learn with Me will replace American Education week this year. Instead of just one week, or the traditional American Education Week, “Learn with Me” opportunities are designed for families to become a part of the teaching and learning experience. Through these experiences, we will showcase the great work done by our teachers and the amazing accomplishments of our students.
