Welcome to the Science Department!
Our middle school program is a comprehensive study of earth/space science in sixth grade, life science in seventh grade, and physical science in eighth grade. Our teachers take a hands-on, minds-on approach in which students are presented with “real-world” applications in which they apply their acquired science and engineering skills. Our courses align with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Students are assessed on their science knowledge using the Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA). This assessment is administered in the early spring of their 8th grade year.

Upcoming Events at the Space Telescope Science Institute
Please join us for dinner, a fun, engaging astronomy presentation (geared towards 5th graders and up but all are welcome), and an activity for the entire family.There will also be an opportunity to participate in night sky observations through the Morris W. Offit Telescope, weather permitting.
