Welcome to Language Arts!
The Language Arts department is the largest in the building, and most people think we are responsible for teaching reading and writing. This is true, but we are also responsible for specifically covering reading literature, reading informational text, writing, speaking & listening, and language content standards. In addition to the material students will read out of the Collections Book, students may also read a novel or two. Each grade has its own standards which build on the skills developed in previous years. Although it may seem like students are completing similar tasks from year to year, the text being read and the writing skills involved are becoming more complex as the years pass. The more students read and write, the more successful they will be at these skills and the more enjoyable they will find LA class. .
